The Department of Medical Sciences – Nursing at Harvard College UK prepares students for rewarding careers as registered nurses capable of delivering high-quality, person-centred care across diverse healthcare settings. Our programmes integrate rigorous scientific knowledge with clinical skills development and the cultivation of professional values. We develop nurses who can provide competent, compassionate care while advocating for patients, leading teams, and contributing to healthcare improvement within an evolving health system.

The curriculum covers nursing fundamentals, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, and nursing care across the lifespan and the health continuum. Students develop clinical competencies in simulation laboratories before progressing to supervised practice in a range of healthcare environments, including hospitals, community clinics, mental health services, and primary care settings. The programme emphasises evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, communication and collaboration, and the ethical dimensions of nursing care, with particular focus on public health, health promotion, and the management of complex care needs.

Clinical placements constitute approximately 50% of the programme, providing students with diverse practical experience across medical-surgical, paediatric, maternity, mental health, and community nursing settings. Partnerships with healthcare providers support comprehensive clinical education and professional development.

Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and pursue careers as staff nurses, community nurses, specialist nurses, and future nursing leaders within the healthcare system.
