Navigating the Complex Energy Transition: From Traditional Resources to Sustainable Systems
The Department of Oil, Gas and Energy Management at Harvard College UK prepares students for leadership roles in the dynamic global energy sector. While providing a solid foundation in traditional hydrocarbon industries, our programs increasingly focus on the energy transition, renewable technologies, and sustainable energy management. We develop professionals who understand the technical, economic, political, and environmental dimensions of energy and can manage projects and strategies in this evolving landscape.

The curriculum covers petroleum geology, reservoir engineering, energy economics, and project finance. Students learn about upstream, midstream, and downstream operations in the oil and gas industry. Concurrently, they study renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, hydrogen), energy storage solutions, carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS), and energy policy. Courses on energy trading, risk management, and international energy markets provide crucial commercial understanding. The program emphasizes sustainability throughout, addressing the social and environmental responsibilities of energy companies.

Case studies of major energy projects, simulation exercises in energy trading, and technical visits to energy facilities enhance learning. Our location in London, a global hub for energy trading and finance, provides access to industry experts and potential employers. Through Erasmus+, students can study energy policies in different European contexts. Graduates pursue careers as energy analysts, project managers in renewable energy, petroleum engineers, sustainability managers in energy companies, and policy advisors, positioned to contribute to securing future energy needs sustainably.
